My name is Amanda,
I'm 28 years old and love animals. Instead of the instinct to have
children mine is to have animals. Unfortunately I live in a one
bedroom apartment that has restrictions on pets. That is why this
job is perfect for me, I get to meet new animals while playing and
caring for them without having to cramp them into my apartment.
My family includes one dog
and two cats, along with my dogs best friend who is always along for the
ride. Nova Marie is a black lab/border collie mix that I adopted from the
Nebraska Humane Society, she is 4 1/2 years old. She is the best dog ever,
she has a cowlick on her back in the shape of a hear that sticks up like a
mohawk down the rest of her back. She is amazingly mellow and calm.
The man in my life is
Charlie, my black cat, he is such a lover. He also thinks he is a dog and
always steals Nova's hard chew bones and tries to chew on them. Then there
is Emajess, my pretty calico. Emajess and Charlie are siblings, the last of
a litter and they are 5 years old. They are all the loves of my life.
In my free time I volunteer
at an animal rescue shelter in Auburn, Nebraska. They rescue dogs from
horrible puppy mills that abuse the animals, the dogs are the happiest dogs
I've ever seen for being in a shelter where they are well taken care of. So,
if anyone is looking to find a new furry friend I know a good place to
start!
Well, as usual when asked
about myself I end up going on about my animals or baggage as my Mom calls
them.
